19 inspiring compositions showcasing the diverse and colourful sounds of contemporary choral music
We would like to take you on a discovery of newly written choral music: peaceful and inspiring.
We believe that singing is a vital part of being human. We represent contemporary classical composers as they have so much to say to the world and we are delighted to feature them prominently on our album: Eric Whitacre, in his ‘Seal Lullaby’ highlights the importance of our seas, Hauschka (Volker Bertelmann), whose piece ‘Fifteen Million Acres’ focuses on the apocalyptic and destructive power of the Australian bushfires. Strong emotions also play a major role in the lyrics we sing: the loneliness that is described in David Reichelt‘s ‘Wandering Soul’ as well as the wordless grief that Hans Zimmer addresses in his piece ‘Aurora’ – an allegedly ‘unsingable’ and monumental work to which our singers lend their voices to add a whole new emotional depth. We truly believe that contemporary composers are no less ambassadors of our time than writers, painters, directors and choreographers. We have given them our voices so that their messages can be heard. Our debut album is therefore aimed at all, whether connoisseurs of choral music or new discoverers who are open to what we, and the composers, have to say to the world.
