Peaceful Choir

“The fact that so many composers have found their way to this project, supporting the WORLD CHOIR FOR PEACE and the ideas behind it, both touches and honours me. I call that happiness.” - Nicol Matt

In the years of making his numerous CD productions, Nicol Matt has met some well-known artists and composers who not only accompanied his projects musically, but also shaped them in great detail. It is important for him to understand the essence of every single composition and that motivates him to truly get to know the people behind it. “Every composer gave me something very special. With each work I was able to get to know a piece of the world and sometimes I had the feeling that I was almost there when the note hit the manuscript paper. ” Nicol Matt is still close friends with some of the composers, including Morten Lauridsen and John Rutter ,

For our first album we have newly commissioned works from ‘Hauschka’ – Volker Bertelmann (Germany), Maarja Nuut (Estonia), David Reichelt (Germany), Ellis Ludwig-Leone (USA) and Helen Ostafew (England). We have some moving new arrangements from Sir Karl Jenkins (Wales) and Kim Andre Arnesen (Norway) and we have a couple of new adaptions for choir from Hans Zimmer (USA) and Max Richter (UK). Alongside these we have recorded some beautiful works from Ola Gjeilo (Norway), John Rutter (England), Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Eric Whitacre (USA), Eriks Esenvalds (Latvia), Daniel Elder (USA), Jake Runestadt (USA), Dan Forrest (USA), Elaine Hagenberg (USA) and Fredrik Sixten (Sweden).
